DIY Command Center

After completing our pantry makeover I decided to add a small command center to the back of the door to fully utilize the space. The back of any pantry door can be a great opportunity for additional storage. If you want to see the full pantry makeover and reveal you can view that here.

Do you have an unused or outdated home décor sign or a scrap piece of wood laying around? Then this is the perfect project for you!

Supplies needed:

  • Unused home décor sign or a small piece of plywood
  • Krylon Fusion All-In-One (I used satin black)
  • Magnetic clips
  • Small command hooks
  • Accessories (I used this locker kit that included a small magnetic board, magnets, magnetic mirror, and magnetic basket for pens.)
  • Strong glue
Supplies

I had this old sign that I was no longer using and sprayed it with my favorite spray paint Krylon Fusion All-In-One in Satin Black , if you wanted it to be an actual chalkboard you could use Krylon Chalkboard Paint so you can write directly on it. I mainly wanted this to be a space that I could clip random school papers and notes on and for our keys to hang on. For this I purchased magnetic metal clips and small command hooks and spray painted them with Krylon Brilliant Metallic Gold to match the other accessories that I had.

Once everything was dried I tried different configurations and landed on this layout and used super glue to adhere each element to the board.

I then attached the board to the back of the door using command strips. This was such a simple project that has made a big impact on my everyday.
