In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix, pumpkin purée, and chocolate chips. Mix until everything is fully blended.
Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. For a muffin-like texture, leave the scoops as rounded balls. For a flatter, more cookie-like shape, gently press down the tops with the back of a spoon.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, depending on your preference: Just until set for a soft, muffin-like consistency, longer for a slightly crisp edge with a tender center.
